“IF YOU DO WELL” ANGER AND THE POWER TO CONTROL SIN

 

HEY BRUH, THIS IS ROBERT DAVIS, THE FOUNDER OF SAVING CAIN! WHEN YOU LOOK AT YOUR LIFE AND GET DOWN TO THE BASICS, YOU WILL COME TO REALIZE THAT IF YOU HAD JUST DONE WHAT YOU KNOW TO BE RIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE, YOU WOULDN’T BE SUFFERING FROM THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ANGER! IN OTHER WORDS, IF YOU HAD DONE WELL, YOU WOULDN’T HAVE SINNED AGAINST GOD OR YOUR BROTHER AND THE SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE WOULDN’T BE PURSUING YOU! NOW YOUR LIFE IS ALL MESSED UP BECAUSE YOUR ANGER OPENED THE DOOR TO SIN, AND SIN HAS TAKEN OVER! THAT’S WHY YOU CAN’T GET YOUR ANGER BACK UNDER CONTROL AND THAT’S WHY YOU CAN’T STOP SINNING!

LISTEN, AS A MAN WHO HAS SUFFERED FROM THE CAIN MENTALITY, I KNOW WHAT UNCONROLED ANGER CAN MAKE YOU DO AND I KNOW WHAT IT DOES TO YOU, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, AS A MAN WHO HAS EXPERIENCED GOD’SABUNDANT GRACE, I KNOW THAT GOD BY HIS SPIRIT WILL GIVE YOU BACK CONTROL OVER YOUR ANGER SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO SIN ANYMORE! SO, MY BROTHER, I’M GOING TO SHOW YOU HOW ANGER AND SIN CONTROL YOUR LIFE! AND THEN I’M GOING TO SHOW YOU HOW YOU CAN BE ANGRY BUT SIN NOT! WHY? BECAUSE IF YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR ANGER YOU CAN HAVE CONTROL OVER SIN! THAT’S WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES, AND IT’S JUST THAT SIMPLE, BUT IT’S EASIER SAID THEN DONE!

THIS IS PART ONE OF MY NEW SERIES CALLED “IF YOU DO WELL” ANGER AND THE POWER TO CONTROL SIN!” TODAY WE ARE GOING TO START IN THE GARDEN AND TALK ABOUT HOW SIN CAME INTO THE WORLD, HOW ANGER IS A PART OF OUR LIVES, AND HOW AFTER THE FALL OF MAN THEY CONTROL OUR LIVES! IN PART II, WE WILL CONTINUE IN THE BOOK OF GENESIS AND TAKE A CRITICAL LOOK AT THE STORY OF CAIN AND ABLE TO SHOW HOW ANGER IS THE DOORKEEPER THAT CAN CONTROL SIN! IN PART III I WILL EXPLAIN WHY THE PURSUIT OF VENGEANCE KEEPS YOU RUNNING FROM GOD BECAUSE YOU THINK HE IS MAD AT YOU!

NOW BEFORE WE GET STARTED LET ME SAY ONE MORE THING AND THEN WE’LL PRAY! LISTEN MY BROTHER THESE ARE THE KEYS OR THE PRINCIPLES TO THE KINGDOM THAT HAVE BROUGHT ME AND WILL BRING YOU OUT OF THE DARKNESS YOU ARE LIVING IN AND INTO HIS MARVELOUS LIGHT! BUT THESE KEYS OR PRINCIPLES ONLY WORK IN THE LIVES OF THOSE WHO ARE CALLED BY GOD TO HIS KINGDOM! WELL, I BELIEVE THAT IF YOU ARE READING THIS SERIES YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED TO HIS KINGDOM AND THAT MEANS YOU ARE READING THIS SERIES BECAUSE YOU BELIEVE IN GOD AND ARE DILIGENTLY SEEKING HIM! HEBREWS 11:6 SAYS THAT GOD IS A REWARDER OF THOSE WHO DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM. SO, IF YOU ARE READY MY BROTHER LET’S GO GET REWARDED! ALL RIGHT LET’S PRAY!

FATHER, I THANK YOU FOR BEING GOD AND GOD ALONE! THERE IS NONE LIKE YOU! THANK YOU FOR YOUR GRACE AND MERCY AND YOUR WILLINGNESS TO FORGIVE US OF ALL OUR SINS AGAINST YOU! WE SEEK YOUR FACE IN THE ISSUE OF UNCONTROLLED ANGER NOT JUST FOR OURSELVES BUT EVERY MAN WHO IS STRUGGLING WITH THIS, SO THAT WE CAN BY YOUR SPIRIT REGAIN CONTROL OVER OUR ANGER AND HAVE CONTROL OVER SIN, WE ASK THIS IN JESUS' NAME, AMEN

LET’S START AT THE BEGINNING

LET’S GO TO THE BOOK OF GENESIS SO WE CAN TAKE LOOK AT ANGER’S EXPRESSION OR HOW WE SHOW ANGER AND LOOK AT WHERE IT COMES FROM. SO, IF YOU HAVE A BIBLE, OR IF YOU HAVE A BIBLE APP. GO TO THE BOOK OF GENESIS 3 AND READ VERSES 17-21. I STARTED THERE  BECAUSE WE ALREADY KNOW THE STORY OF CREATION, AND HOW ADAM AND EVE FELL IN THE GARDEN. BUT FIRST THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT I WANT TO ADDRESS THAT HAPPENED BEFORE AND DURING THIS PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE THAT WILL HELP TO BUILD A FOUNDATION FOR THE TOPIC WE ARE STUDYING WHICH IS ANGER AND THE CONTROL OF SIN. SO BEAR WITH ME FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN WE WILL DIG IN!

1. WHY DID MAN DISOBEY GOD? ADAM AND EVE DISOBEYED GOD BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO BE LIKE HIM, AND HAVE THE KNOWLEDEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL! IN OTHER WORDS, THEY WANT TO BE LIKE GOD! PERIOD! IT WAS NOT ABOUT THE FRUIT, IT WAS ABOUT WHAT IT REPRESENTED! IT WAS NOT ABOUT SEXUAL ASSAULT OR PERVERSION THAT DECEIVED EVE WHILE ADAM WATCHED! THE WORD BEGUIL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SEX IT MEANS TO DECEIVED! IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE LIE THAT THE ENEMY TOLD THAT IGNITED IN THEM THE DESIRE TO LIKE GOD AND THAT DESIRE WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE MANS DOWNFALL!

2. GOD CURSED THE GROUND NOT ADAM! IN FACT, GOD DIDN'T CURSE ADAM OR EVE EITHER. HE PUNISHED OR CORRECTED THEM! THE ONLY ONE THAT GOT CURSED WAS THE SERPENT BECAUSE EVEN IF THEY WERE OR THEY DID SOMETHING WRONG, MESSING WITH GOD'S CHILDREN WILL BRING HIS WRATH! I SAID ALL THAT TO SAY THIS, GOD DID NOT RESPOND THE WAY ADAM THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO! AFTER THEY ATE THE FRUIT OF THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD THEY REALIZED THEY WERE NAKED OR IN OTHERS THEY KNEW THAT HAD DONE SOMETHING WRONG! BUT GOD'S PUNISHMENT WAS FULL OF GRACE AND INSTEAD OF CURSING AND DESTROYING THEM. HE ALLOWED THEM TO LIVE UNTIL THEY DIED.

3. GOD'S PUNISHMENT FOR ADAM WAS NOT JUST HARD WORK IT WAS BACKBREAKING, MUSCLE-ACHING, SWEAT-POURING, TEDIOUS, AND TRIFLING WORK THAT CAUSED PROBLEM IN HIS LIFE! THIS KIND OF WORK MAY PAY WELL BUT IT IS TIME-CONSUMING, YOU SPEND MORE TIME WORKING THAN YOU DO AT HOME, AND THAT CAUSES ALL KINDS OF TROUBLE AT HOME!

4. GOD BANISHED MAN FROM THE GARDEN AND THEIR DISOBEDIENCE OR SIN SEPARATED THEM FROM GOD! THIS WAS NOT GOD'S FAULT IT WAS AND HAS BEEN MANS FAULT FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD! BUT GOD HAD THE PLAN TO FIX IT!

 ANGER'S EXPRESSION

ANGER IS EXPRESSED IN DIFFERENT WAYS BUT MY BROTHER ANGER IS NOT A SIN! SIN IS THE ACTION OR ACTIONS THAT UNCONTROLLED ANGER INSPIRES, ALLOWS, AND FORCES US TO TAKE! ANGER IS AN EMOTION THAT WAS GIVEN TO US BY GOD TO STAND UP FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS! IN OTHER WORDS, ANGER LETS THE ENEMY KNOW YOU’RE NOT PLAYING HIS GAME AND THAT YOU MEAN BUSINESS WHEN EVIL TRIES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU OR THOSE WHO CAN’T STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES. BUT THE DYNAMICS CHANGE WHEN YOU DISOBEY, WHEN YOU FAIL, OR WHEN YOU BREAK THE LAW BECAUSE SELF-CONDEMNATION STEPS IN AND MAKES YOU TURN YOUR ANGER ON YOURSELF. THEN START REACTING TO OR EXPRESSING ANGER BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU THINK OTHER PEOPLE FEEL ABOUT YOU! THAT MEANS YOU THINK THAT PEOPLE ARE FRUSTRATED, AGGRAVATED, AND DISAPPOINTED WITH YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE FRUSTRATED, AGGRAVATED, AND DISAPPOINTED AT YOURSELF! 

HEY BRUH IF YOU DON’T THINK THAT ADAM WAS FRUSTRATED WITH HIMSELF WHEN HE FAILED GOD IN THE GARDEN YOU ARE WRONG! IF YOU DON’T THINK ADAM WAS AGGRAVATED WITH HIMSELF BECAUSE HE HAD TO DO ALL THAT HARD WORK TO TILL THE GROUND AFTER HE MESSED UP IN THE GARDEN YOU ARE WRONG. IF YOU DON'T THINK HE WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH HIMSELF WHEN GOD RAN HIM OUT OF THE GARDEN AND IT WAS MADE WORSE WHEN EVERY TIME ADAM LOOKED IN THAT DIRECTION, THE ANGEL POINTED THAT FLAMING SWORD AT HIM BECAUSE OF HIS DISOBEDIANCE YOU ARE WRONG! AND IF YOU DON’T THINK THAT GOD’S GRACIOUS RESPONSE DID NOT PROVOKE AN ANGRY REACTION FROM ADAM, YOU ARE WRONG, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, JUST ASK YOUR CHILDREN! OR LOOK BACK AT HOW YOU RESPONDED TO THE PUNISHMENT OR DISCIPLINE YOUR PARENTS GAVE YOU! YES, MY BROTHER, YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE REACTIONS AND RESPONSES OF OTHERS WHEN YOU DO SOMETHING WRONG BUT IT IS OUR REACTION TO THEIR REACTIONS AND RESPONSES THAT LEADS US TO COMMIT SIN! 

              A QUICK REVIEW

ANGER COMES FROM GOD AND IS OR CAN BE EXPRESSED THROUGH FRUSTRATION, AGGRAVATION, AND DISAPPOINTMENT! THESE DIFFERENT FORMS OR STAGES OF ANGER ARE ON DISPLAY EVERY DAY IN OUR LIVES AND MOST IF NOT ALL THE TIME THEY DON'T MAKE US SIN! IN OTHER WORDS, IF YOU ARE NOT AN EVIL PERSON YOU CAN STOP YOURSELF FROM DOING SOMETHING BAD LIKE DISOBEYING, FAILING, AND BREAKING THE LAW! THE PROBLEMS COME WHEN WE ARE  FRUSTRATED, AGGRAVATED, AND DISAPPOINTED FOR A LONG TIME WITHOUT RELIEF! THAT'S WHAT WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT IN PART II NEXT WEEK!

THE CAIN MENTALITY PART III BROUGHT BACK LIFE

HEY BRUH! Today I present to you Part III in this series called The Cain Mentality! In Part One I defined for you what the Cain Mentality is and how to identify that disposition! In Part II, I defined the concept of this mentality and showed you the legacy it leaves! In Part III, I going to share with you my life story and testimony on how God set me free from this mentality and brought me out of that darkness into his marvelous light! All Right! Let’s get started!

THE DARKNESS

One of the things that shocked me when God brought me out from the darkness of this mentality I existed in, was the depth, the breadth, and the height of that bondage! Listen, I thought I understood what Romans 5:20 meant when it said “Where sin abounded God’s grace did abound much more, but I did not realize just how much more it abounded in my life until He brought me into His marvelous light! In addition to that, what was more shocking, and also deflating, was the fact that I finally saw myself for who I really was, and I had to acknowledge the filthiness of my unrighteousness! But I could not do that in the dark! Why? Because the darkness covered my true identity so that I could not see how wretched I was!

Now if you put on a disguise and do something wrong, that means you know what you are doing is wrong and you are trying not to get caught! In other words, you are using an exterior façade to hide your interior intent! But when you exist in the darkness of the Cain Mentality you will be blinded by a mindset that is absent of truth! That means that because of how you think, everything about you, who you are, what you say, and what you do is a lie, and that blindness is so dark, that even if you could see the truth, you would not accept it!

This blindness is what produces in the men who suffer from the Cain Mentality: identity crisis, selfishness, jealousy, criminality, rebellion, anger, malice, and violent outbursts among other things! This is an internal disposition that controls the external actions which in turn convey to the world that you are something you were never supposed to be. However, because you cannot see it, you will continue to exist in that darkness until you get set free or until you perish!

 

FAILURE & THE SYNDROME OF INSIGNIFICANCE

The Cain Mentality is everywhere! It does not discriminate between race, creed, or color. It does not care whether or not you are rich or poor, educated, or uneducated, religious or secular, conservative or progressive. The only thing that differentiates it in the institution of manhood is how it is manifested in men's lives both individually and corporately! For instance, not every man can, will, or has an opportunity to physically take the life of another, however, everyman can, will, and has an opportunity to use that military-style weapon in their mouth called a tongue to deceive, disparage, deny, and destroy an entire generation!

For me, it manifested as failure and as far as I am concerned, failure is the deepest, broadest, and highest darkness a man could ever exist in! Why? Because when you were born into bondage you suffer from the syndrome of insignificance! That means when you start with nothing, it teaches you to want nothing! When you want nothing, the ability to achieve is diminished! When your ability to achieve is diminished, you end up with nothing, or you never leave where you started! Let me break this down!

MY STORY

Listen! There was a time in my life when I walked around knowing that whatever I did, tried, planned, plotted, or attempted was not going to succeed! It was not a misconception or a delusion! It was a reality that manifested itself as a cyclical pattern of failure because I could not make good decisions, so I just acted on impulse, and that was going on for years before I went to prison!

The rapidly increasing pressures of the bondage of insignificance kept me from succeeding in every part of my life! As I look back on my life it seems that I was the epitome of failure as a child until I was in my early thirties! This was a long time to exist in that darkness and not recognize or be recognized for my gifts and talents like other people I grew up with or my peers in general!

But the God of the universe, in His infinite wisdom, created me to fulfill a purpose for His kingdom! What I found out later on is that the purpose He ordained for my life meant that God never intended for me to be a failure! Now, I didn’t find that purpose, because it was already in me, but all that was connected to that purpose after I cried out to God in the middle of that darkness when I was in prison and He heard my cry, came into my life, brought me out of that darkness and into his marvelous light! Since that day, I have been walking out of the darkness of failure and the bondage insignificance by His spirit, and Hey Bruh, what he has for me he will do for you!
